Qantas passengers involved in flight scare after reports of an engine fire during takeoff

Flight QF91 from Sydney to Noumea, which was due to depart at 7.37am, abandoned takeoff after the pilot received an emergency radio call.

The air traffic control tower had received reports of"flames and smoke" seen coming from the starboard engine while the plane was still on the tarmac, reported Nine News. More than 100 Qantas passengers were forced to evacuate a flight on Sunday morning after reports of an engine fire. Picture: Nine News. As a precaution, the pilot grounded the plane and taxied the passengers back to Sydney Airport terminal. “The pilots followed procedure and shut down the engine as a precaution after being alerted by the control tower while taxiing,” Qantas told SkyNews.com.au.“Engineers have inspected the aircraft and cleared it to return to service. Passengers have been reaccommodated on to another flight this morning.
