NSW Local Government Minister Shelley Hancock has warned against labelling property developers 'evil' while facing questions over the government's response to Labor's bid to ban them from sitting on local councils.

NSW Local Government Minister Shelley Hancock has warned against labelling all property developers as "evil" while facing questions over the government's response to Labor's bid to ban them from sitting on local councils.

"Maybe we could start to ban other groups of people, maybe teachers." She later clarified the remark as "flippant", and said, "Let's not classify all property developers as 'evil'."Brendan Esposito Her position before the committee on Wednesday put her at odds with Environment Minister Matt Kean's vocal stance on the issue. He has previously said, "It's unacceptable that property developers are using the Liberal Party's brand to line their own pockets."

Property developers as such aren't evil. It's the officials that accept the bribes that are are.

pls everyone contact ms hancock to ask why any property developers with vested interests be allowed on councils ? southcoastparliament.nsw.gov.au or call her office 8574 5400

Of course they are not evil!...the brown bag is larger and larger!

Just Crookes!

From the party that brought you sportrorts, afpraids & other great freedoms let's have more LNP mates on councils.

Not all property developers are evil but the ones that sit on local councils have to play with a fixed deck of cards.Thats the point, jails are chockers no use encouraging corruption. The liberal greed we have now will collapse eventually its an unsustainably immoral compromise

They're a pack of dodgy cnts who cut corners and lie. Worse than real estate agents!

No they are not all evil it is just the politicians who support them are!

Have a chat to Dutton about labelling people before lecturing us.

Well guess what they got sacked for corruption in Casey council in Victoria

Shelley Hancock ShelleyMP is the only person suggesting property developers are 'evil'. A simplistic political tactic for the naive.

Except they mostly are.

Yes they are, they are rich; that makes them evil by default.

not evil... 🤣🤣🤣

She obviously hasn't bought into Sydney apartments & found all the defects and then had the developer company go bankrupt & then tried to wade thru 6 or more companies so no one can actually find out who the actual developer is. Often a North Shore deregistered lawyer.

Property developers are banned from donating to political parties in a couple of states, but Coal Mine developers can and do donate to both major parties.

Mmm pretty sure they are.

Makes sense to ban them.

There is a cleae conflict of interest in a lot of cases, but same could be said for a lot of professions

Good for climate change A plan to in Latham’s street is a great idea! Nuclear power is pointless now. It's great if we had it 20 years ago, but it takes up to 10 years to build a plant and is extremely expensive. Renewables are getting far more cost efficient by the day.
