An extensive air and sea search ends after police locate the body of Trista Applebee, who went on a half-hour scenic flight for her birthday in conditions described as perfect.

Queensland Police have found the body of a woman who was a passenger in a plane that crashed off the Gold Coast.The body of the pilot was found in wreckage on ThursdayThe body of Trista Applebee was found late on Friday afternoon on the southern end of North Stradbroke Island.

The 31-year-old had departed for a joy flight for her birthday in a Soviet-era Yak 52 warplane on Wednesday morning withThe aircraft was the same model plane that crashed in a similar location in 2008, claiming two lives.Offshore search efforts had been suspended earlier on Friday due to rough sea conditions.Mr van Hattem took off from the Southport Flying Club at about 10:00am on Wednesday on a half-hour scenic flight over South Stradbroke Island, but never returned.
