BREAKING The federal government will invest another $171 million into the country's aged care sector, bringing its total investment during the pandemic to $1 billion

The federal government will invest another $171 million into the country's aged care sector, bringing its total investment during the pandemic to $1 billion.

The new funding includes $103.4 million for the already announced COVID-19 aged care preparedness measures including national call centre capacities for communications with families and covering quarantine costs for interstate staff employed, as well as mental health support for residents and their families.

After receiving briefings from Reserve Bank governor Phil Lowe and Treasury secretary Steven Kennedy earlier on Friday, Mr Morrison said "jobs is the number one economic issue" for Australia in the pandemic.

There's less of them now to fund isn't here, Mate?

It will not improve if they spend twice as much. The Government of Victoria has shown that it is possible to let hundreds more die then all other states combined. Shame on the Government of Victoria!

So keep throwing money at the problem and it’ll go away?

No doubt about ScottMorrisonMP leadership!

Huge effort, after running it down for years, Scotty ' I'm here to do nothing' Morrison.

ScottMorrisonMP Bet he regrets defunding the aged sector by so much in 2017. Who knew Shame on him.

THE FEDERAL AGED CARE MINISTER DID NOT KNOW HOW MANY AGED CARE COVID DEATHS THERE WERE. THOSE LIVES OBVIOUSLY DO NOT MATTER TO HIM.

He cut 1.5 billion tho

I have to say this. This is AFTER years of hacking money out from it.

Where is all this money coming from? Amazing what they can find when a light is shone on these cockroaches.

Ooooo, another “announcement” 🤦🏻‍♀️

Breakdown of how the money will be spent ? No good just writing $171 million. That means nothing ScottMorrisonMP auspol Australia

Nine Entertainment's print propaganda arm, formerly known as Fairfax Media, is passing off LNP press releases as 'news' and giving said press releases huge, unquestioning headlines. Is Nine Entertainment trying to give News Corp a run for biggest LNP cheerleader in AUS?

'Will invest...' - who knows?

Wonder when (if) this ‘investment’ will ever really happen.

What ScottMorrisonMP announces and what actually happens are two different things. On past records the $171 million doesn't exist does it Mr Morrison. In the words of your mate Trump,, 'More Fake News'

I can only imagine where all that money will actually go or be spent on

They're happy because They won't be around to pay it off!.....win-win

And what about the for profit assholes who own the homes How much do they have to pay? Happy for them to go to jail instead!!!!

Isn't privatization great. We prop up these plague aged care centres so these leeches don't have to give back their Maserati's and can continue to live it up on nanna's life savings.

More funding promises that probably won’t be spent and if they are will go to vested interests. We want to hear what changes to be made to i prove aged care and by when. This announcement like others to stop media apportioning blame to Feds.

This stimulus may be spent partly on upgrades to disaster plans though mostly it's likely to go into pockets of shareholders of private companies which have 'the aged' as a commodity within aged care centres.

And how much did it cut from it, before the pandemic. The hypocrisy and double speak is astounding

Don’t you get it yet? No one fucking believes him anymore. He’s done.

More fake news from the LiarFromTheShire

*notional funding.

Evidence required to ensure this is not merely more spin.

Peanuts. $171 million is peanuts compared to what proper nursing staff and staff ratios would cost.

How much will end up in Private CEOs bank accounts?

But will they?

And the greed driven care provider establishments will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Is that Notional Funding ?

Exposed, then shamed into allocating funds. LNP disgust me, truly disgust me. May they rot in hell.

rick_rampal Just another announcement ScottyFromMarketing at it again.

How much did they symphony off before the pandemic?

It it coming from the poor unfortunate class of 2020 HSC students ridiculously increased uni fees?

Ha!

Lmost as much she pulled putpreviously 🤔

$1billion invested, but nothing built. Classic Libs.

MWhalan is that what they have said or is that what they have actually done? there tends to be a pattern of doing nothing

ScottMorrisonMP It's illegal, people have the right to refuse medical treatment. I know right wingers want us all to be puppets of the regime, 'for our own good' but forced medical care is illegal for people capable of decision making. In mental health and Aged care it may be different ScottMorrisonMP We're already on to his plan. He won't say it's mandatory, but he'll attempt to restrict us with regards, to work, travel, buying/selling etc etc just know we won't accept that. There are far far more of us than you guys. Ok.

PM claps back over China's wine dumping claimsPrime Minister Scott Morrison says he does not accept claims that Australian companies are dumping wine in China. Too much whining! Quiet easily fixed ban all wine export to China, other countries will love our high quality products I have not seen one bottle of wine dumped in any of the reports so far. Not in the background, on the floor, none. Until I see bottles of wine discarded and laying around then China has no call to say dumping of wine is happening 🤷‍♂️
