Roosters young guns Victor Radley and Sam Verrills have suffered feared ACL tears in a hammer blow for the premiers.

The playing surface at Bankwest Stadium will require independent clearance before Saturday's Eels-Raiders match goes ahead.

COVID-19 protocols since the NRL's resumption has seen the venue scheduled to host 11 games in 22 games by the end of the weekend. The NRL had Bankwest independently assessed in the lead-up to Friday's game, and the surface will be inspected again on Saturday morning prior to the scheduled Eels-Raiders clash that night.

"If we have any concerns around the safety of the pitch then we'll move the [Eels v Raiders] game," Abdo said."The number of stadiums and where we would play was all around rationalising the venues to keep them safe and also making sure we didn't overplay at stadiums, that was a factor [for Project Apollo].

The knockers will love these injuries - but the Chooks will battle on.

Terrible for these young blokes. That surface looked horrible on tv. Looked like a suburban park.

Huge step forward in All Blacks v KangaroosThis would be a compulsive watch - and it's starting to look like a reality! 9WWOS If Kangaroos opt for a exhibition game to benefit a Rugby Union team opposed to or any other international Rugby League team stinks. IntRL can’t let this happen. The Kangaroos packing a scrum against the All Blacks would be carnage 😬 Easier if they play League rules!
