Sky News host Paul Murray says Melbourne is meant to be in stage four lockdown yet parking officers are still allowed to work.

Controversy was sparked recently when a woman who had worked 56 hours over four days in the ICU at the Royal Melbourne Hospital came to her car to find a parking fine.

After she took to social media with the story, the fine was promptly dismissed with the state government promising to provide the hospital with additional front line worker permits. “Right now, even the number of people working in warehouses that actually distribute the food around Melbourne is limited,” Mr Murray said. “If a lockdown means very people are allowed to get in and around Melbourne, why are the parking officers at work at all.

What essential service do you provide Paul ... and why are *you* still 'working'

Parking officers work for local govt not state govt.

There is nothing esential about a parking officer even before the virus hit us. Revenue gathering scum.

Loved DA answer, um um um. I'll get back to you. Has to be a fine coming if they are to be consistent

mate half the council-run on parking fines. Has any council around Australia given any concession in rates or other fees during COVID..none I know. parking and speeding fines are important resources for the council and the federal government does not pay any council.
