A political brawl has erupted over Scott Morrison's plan to compensate volunteer firefighters.

Queensland Premier Annatancia Palaszczuk slammed the prime minister's handling of the issue after she was forced to reject claims she was reluctant to sign up to the plan. Ms Palaszczuk announced on Tuesday she had written to Mr Morrison to urge him to compensate her state's volunteer firefighters in the same way their New South Wales counterparts are compensated.

Scott Morrison 3h Today, in response to the request from the Queensland Premier, I have authorised for payments of up to $6000 to be made to volunteer firefighters in Queensland where they have been called out for extended periods of service this fire season.

Where is Palachook?

No one wants volunteer fire fighters to be out of pocket BUT, does anyone else suspect that Albo & Denial have ulterior motive for their sudden concern? Can't help but think that attempts to unionise are merely bait for a much larger ALP trap come election time.

Stop listening to her skynews everything she does is about being re-elected. A very selfish human.

I am like most Australians who are sick of point scoring and bickering between politicians I wish they get of their asses and just do their job they are paid for, they are entitled wankers

I wonder if kindergarten trained (and under paid) teachers should teach highly paid politicians how to play nicely together

ScottyfromMarketing

Typical queensland labor.

Just the sight of her makes me feel nauseated

Typical tactic of the left. Pluckaduck was on holidays while her State was burning, so divert attention attack Scomo.

Whoever came up with the name palachook take a bow.

even though she is taking a holiday?

hillclime All caused by morrison

Stupid Paleochook should take a poll on the issue like she did for renaming Lady Cilento Children's Hospital. That time, of the 23,000 “yes” votes in the survey, nearly 18,000 came from just 74 IP addresses.

Meanwhile the liberal QLD state opposition has a go at her for being childless. Disgraceful disgusting comments from the liberal!!!

Palachook is just grandstanding! She knows her and her party are precariously balanced on a cliff edge. NSW and SA are onboard - what's the hold up Premier?

Scotty trying using has political football while 4 states are burning while he has not shown any leadership at all during fire crisis l am on out side looking in and this government has lost control and doesn’t know what to do even if they advisers no leadership

Volunteer firefighters should be ‘compensated for loss of income’ | Sky News AustraliaLiberal Senator Jim Molan says he spent several days with the New South Wales Rural Fire Service and the volunteers made it clear that did not want to be paid.\n\nHowever, Mr Molan said volunteers should be “compensated for loss of income”.\n\n“It is a really good thing what we have done today,” he told Sky News.\n\n“The government has announced there will be compensation for loss of income which preserves the volunteering system but also compensates a number of people who are employees of small businesses or are self-employed.”\n\nImage: News Corp Australia JimMolan Bullshit. JimMolan The RFS has had quite a bit of trouble with some volunteers lighting fires so they can then go out and fight them and be called “heroes”. Throw cash bonuses into the mix and there’ll be far more incentive for the firebugs in their ranks to engage in arson JimMolan So this lib guy says to the rfs guys ‘who would like some money’. & all of them replied no thanks. & you expect people to believe that .🤣🤣🤣

PM criticised for negotiating compensation deal for volunteer firefighters | Sky News AustraliaAnthony Albanese has criticised Scott Morrison for negotiating a compensation deal with only NSW volunteer firefighters, as the bushfire crisis continues. \n\n'I don't understand why it is that the Prime Minister has just negotiated with the New South Wales Premier, rather than convening COAG and getting an approach across the nation,' he said.\n\nOn Sunday, the government announced volunteer NSW firefighters who have spent at least ten days battling blazes in the state would receive up to $6,000 in compensation. \n\nThe move was designed to support crews through an 'unusually demanding' season, but prime minister said it should not set a precedent for permanent payments.\n\nThe Opposition Leader said the ongoing crisis requires a national approach and again called Mr Morrison to convene a COAG meeting. \n \n\n A NATIONAL government should instigate a NATIONAL scheme.
