Northern Territory Chief Minister Michael Gunner has been accused of using the coronavirus pandemic for political purposes in the lead-up to the state election on August 22.

Mr Gunner was recently criticised by the Territory Alliance after he released a community message on ABC radio where he concluded by asking the public to support the Labor party. “I am asking for your support so the Labor government I lead can continue to protect Territorian’s lives,” he said.

The Territory Alliance made an official complaint arguing the Chief Minister’s message blurred the lines between what should be a community health message versus a political message. NT Labor's political platform centred around COVID-19 with Mr Gunner's messaging primarily focused on tough border controls. There are currently no hard borders enforced by the Northern Territory government, open to WA, SA, Qld, Tas, ACT and portions of NSW not considered hotspots since July 17.

A bit like Scomo then...

So what? This pandemic is political. The voters need to know what action each political party would have or will take.

Gee what a surprise! Heads up - All the States are!

VoteInPen NOT PENCIL. Why have we been voting in pencil all these years?

SkyNewsAust spends all day every day on twitter - and with its hard-right political propagandists politicising the coronavirus for political purposes! so this tweet is quite ironic! The Hitleresque playbook: SkyNewsAus= Accuse others of that which YOU are guilty. auspol

Not just Gunner all state premiers have been using the so called “pandemic” for political gain it stopped being about “saving” lives from the flu ages ago and is now all about shoring up the votes
