China's Foreign Ministry said Beijing’s rising criticism of the US, which has recently included sniping over 5G, COVID-19, Hong Kong and the South China Sea, has not been an attempt to sway the outcome of the election in November but rather a “just” and necessary response to America’s interference in its internal affairs. China’s defensive remarks came days after US National counter-intelligence and Security Centre Director William Evanina pointed the finger squarely at the Communist nation.
