The Northern Territory has bucked the national election trend, re-electing it's two incumbent Labor House of Representive members.
The margin in the urban seat of Solomon - which covers Darwin and satellite city, Palmerston - was cut to 2.6 per cent, with Labor's Luke Gosling claiming victory on Saturday night, over Country Liberal Party Candidate Kathy Ganley. While it took until this morning for Labor veteran, Warren Snowdon - who has been Member for Lingiari since 2001, but in Federal Parliament for more than 30 years - to claim victory in Lingiari over the CLP's Jacinta Price.
Despite a national victory for the Coalition, the Northern Territory has bucked the country's trend by re-electing two incumbent Labor MPs. "We're 6021 votes ahead, we've got over 56 per cent of the vote, there aren't enough votes to change that outcome substantially." With the re-election of a Coalition Government, it means there is just one of the four NT federal representatives in the coalition.Related Articles
