Australia Headlines News

It's the highest daily number of new infections in the state since the pandemic began. 9News

"Based on those numbers we can only assume that things are likely to get worse before they get better given the quantum of people infectious in the community," Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.New rules for Sydney hotspot LGAsThree new LGAs were yesterday added to the NSW Government's list of high-risk areas as the spread of the Delta strain shows no signs of slowing.

"We're seeing too much evidence of people who are not wearing masks when they need to, or if they are outdoors, they're coming into contact with other people and not having a mask."Additionally, residents within those LGAs will only be able to move within a five kilometre radius of their homes. Police Minister David Elliot said authorities "detest" the tightened restrictions, however the measures are necessary to reduce case numbers.

"She was not vaccinated and was a household contact of a confirmed case," Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said. The second death was a man in his 80s from south-western Sydney who passed away yesterday afternoon at Royal North Shore Hospital.Dr Chant said more deaths are likely if vaccination rates don't increase.

There are currently 182 people with COVID-19 admitted to hospital with 54 people in intensive care and 22 of whom require ventilation.A staff member at Sydney's Royal Prince Alfred Hospital's emergency department has tested positive to COVID-19."That person did not have any symptoms and they tested positive with a regular surveillance test," Dr Chant said.

What was that Gladys was saying about 'exponential'? tick tock

Looking at other countries experience, the outbreak will almost certainly leaks to other states.

Like we didn’t know you were going to do this please place this on sports bet let us make some money on this

GladysB The Premier is holding 8 LGAs to ransom to achieve her 80% vaccination target she boasted about before this lockdown. THERE ARE OTHER ALTERNATIVES THE GOVERNMENT COULD BE USING TO SUPPRESS THIS OUTBREAK. Gladys refuses to mandate them and hides behind medical advice.

Dr Chant speaking on the 2 deaths overnight: 'At this level of cases, we are going to continue to see further deaths. And, sadly, too many elderly people in our communities are not protected.' Meanwhile she's giving 40,000 doses of Pfizer to Year 12 students.

Fuckin Lie after Lie after Lie... When the vaxed start departing this earth only then will the vaxed realise they've been decieved and start turning on the ones who forced them into the biggest deception of all time... How can people not see what is going on

PCR is N/A!!

Can we have the exact numbers from each area

So apart from the 8 lga’s there’s not another COVID case in Sydney, that’s very interesting and if there is another case why is that area not locked down and why are they allowed to work and not have to cover there faces when the step foot out the front door!

Instead of showing of to the world how great they were a few months back they should of been making the vaccine mandatory, now once again it’s catch up time

Wait for tomorrow, it’s ground hog day😎

So lock downs not working

Just wondering when the NSW government is going to realise that locking LGA's doesn't work. Lock down the whole state before the infection spreads to thousands.

Lachlan is fully vaccinated, tested for COVID and stuck at the NSW borderThe Melbourne father is waiting on the border but says he's been met with silence from the Victorian government after seeking approval to come home. Please don't give me hard luck stories of people stuck there. It sucks but it's better than the whole of Victoria copping a spike. On July 11 the VIC government had been telling people not to travel to NSW for weeks. You take a gamble, you might lose. Has he thought about making a donation to VictorianLabor ?
