WA venue operators fear jobs and revenue will be put at risk if the planned Phase Five easing of coronavirus restrictions is pushed back by the State Government.

Health Minister Roger Cook said Cabinet would give "careful consideration" to delaying phase five as a precaution. But that does not leave much time for Mojos and other venues to adapt if they can suddenly only fit half the number of people in, if the Government decides to maintain the two-square-metre rule and other restrictions.

"It's concerning. It puts a lot of risk into the investment that a lot of people have made to get open at full capacity at this stage," Mojos manager Duncan Stratham said. If Phase Five were to be pushed back, half of the ticketholders for the Mojos gig could not go in and would be refunded.Mr Stratham said hundreds of hours of work had gone into preparing for phase five, which would allow Mojos to employ all its staff again and allow artists to start making money.

But the uncertainty over the timeline has already caused a headache for the Fremantle Dockers and West Coast Eagles, with.It is the same problem potentially facing organisers of the WA Unlocked concert, at the 4,500-capacity HBF Stadium on the same night.— with an all-West Australian line-up of performers — may also have to reassess.

Queensland joins WA in push for international flight cap amid Melbourne virus spikeState premiers have lobbied the Morrison government to reduce international flights coming into Australia as Melbourne grapples with a coronavirus spike. I wonder if any States would have coped with the influx of infectious returning travellers that Melbourne has endured. If the whole world had done this and shut everything down (except essential services) for 1 month back in Feb/March the virus would be all but gone. Hey, but what do I know, I’m not a world leader who’s main interest has been the economy. And hasn’t that worked out just great. Needs to happen while the country grapples with Victoria.
