As investigators touched down in Western Australia's Kimberley region, more details have been revealed about what may have caused a helicopter crash that killed a well-known tourism operator and a young girl. 9News

Investigators will stay in Broome for a week but a full report into the crash could take up to a month.

9News understands a strut on the aircraft may have shattered during take-off and affected the aircraft's flight, possibly causing it to plummet.Tributes continue to flow for Mr Thomas. Long-time friend and first responder at the crash scene Adam Barnard today wiped away tears as he remembered him."It's hard to really believe that it could happen to him, knowing how skilled he is and knowing that something went wrong, that reflection on him makes it even harder.

Horizontal Falls halted its operations yesterday in respect of Mr Thomas' death but today resumed its tours, saying it is what he would have wanted. "He was like a boy in a candy store and the Kimberley was his candy and he just wanted to share it with everyone," friend Giana Cortese said.Continue reading
