The Victorian government has promised to set up suburban contact tracing hubs but hasn't said when. Experts say the local units 'can't come soon enough'.

Victoria on Thursday reported 28 more COVID-19 diagnoses, the first time since June the new daily cases dipped below 30. The 14-day daily case average is 44.4 for Melbourne. That average must stay between 30 and 50 cases for the city to ease restrictions on September 28.Professor Rubin would not comment on the merits of Victoria’s current contact tracing system, but said NSW’s decentralised model had helped it respond to the coronavirus pandemic effectively.

Professor McLaws said it was positive that the state was already using local resources to contain an outbreak in Casey in Melbourne's south-east. "Certainly from my point of view they look like ambitious targets on the basis of where we've been," he told"One hopes that there's some flexibility in these numbers going forward ... all I can report is from my social network is that the last week or two of the lockdown, which is now six to seven weeks, is starting to have a real impact."

Government modelling used for its road map predicted a daily case load of more than 60 by Thursday, more than double the actual figure."Of course if we finish up ahead of schedule, then, we will adjust things and we'll have more to say about that at the appropriate time,” he said. Deputy Chief Health Officer Allan Cheng also indicated there could be some flexibility in the triggers for moving from step two to step three in easing restrictions.Professor Cheng said he was worried about the Casey cluster where the infection sites likely included a number of households.

2025 at the rate the dictator Dan's government works !!

Its been 6 months and Andrews has not even done the very Basics! Instead he just went at it with a sledge hammer and locked down the entire state! Contract tracing should have been the first thing put in place! as it was in other countries. But Andrews has to do things his way.

Daniel Andrews! Just as dangerous as Trump? thetrumpvirus

A few weeks back twitter comments on The Age were 80% 'great job Dan, we love you Dan' and 20% 'f you Dan, you've ruined us'. Now it seems the other way around. More people slowly coming around? I hope so

Probably after the vaccine comes

Now not when Lurch FFS!!!

Does this not again show all the nanny staters his whole ignorant plan is archaic rubbish as it’s based on having traceability? Resign you incompetent fool!

It took the dipshits long enough

Too little too late from this shit DanielAndrewsMP government. Somehow they keep setting a new low bar for incompetence, costing lives, businesses and jobs. Victorians need an election to get rid of these arseholes now.

Continue with your good job 👏, You have been with Victorian people every day since corona virus outbreak like excellent leader not observer. You did excellent job before pandemic and you will do even better when pandemic is over. Victorian people have faith in you.

Who is the chairman of ch9 newspapers again 🤔

A mea culpa from the big fella!!!!

A bit bloody late Dumbo Dan!!! This is another major stuff up on the part of your ‘debacle’ Govt. This is why Sydney is getting back to relative normality and Melbourne is a laughing stock globally.

Just get them into Broadmeadows, Fawkner and Roxburgh Park . Job done ✅

As soon as they get their second fax machine running! Hopefully it won’t take more than a couple of months

should have had them set up already , but may the supercomputer said NO

It will be when diversity training and quotas have been reached. Nothing happens from merit, only diverse appointments in Victoria.

'I was so frightened': New program helps high-risk communities isolateEveryone who tests positive to COVID-19 in Melbourne's coronavirus hotspots will have their capacity to isolate assessed in a bid to stop people leaving their homes while infectious. It is not so much their capacity as their actual willingness to abide by self isolation. How do you test that? I'm not going to be positive because I'm not going to get tested.
