Discussions were “ongoing”, but divisions within are emerging as MPs express concern over the potential consequences in areas such as mining and agriculture.
Asked before the meeting whether he was concerned that if the Nationals did not agree to net-zero it would ruin the party’s chances at the next election, Mr Joyce said that was a decision for others. “On this issue, I would say no because I have got to be honest and say ‘what is your views on the room on that issue?’ I would say, no, I don’t think that is going to happen,” he said.
“We had a constructive and collegiate discussion about the future of our regions, traditional industries, and the jobs and communities that rely on them,” Mr Taylor said.“It was also clear that there was absolutely no appetite for policies that impact jobs or add to cost of living through an explicit carbon tax or a sneaky carbon tax, which we won‘t be doing.”

- fixed the headline for you: “The Nationals have been unable to agree to save the planet even after 8 years as a coalition partner in government”
And that’s why their party will always be relegated 2nd Tier.
If the Nationals could draw up a policy plan in 4 hrs it would be amazing. Amazing, to throw together a policy with little expert input would probably render it to be a collection political catch phrase bullet points. Anybody who thinks they can do it 4 hrs is a bit naive.
Does anyone believe they spent 4 hours talking about anything other than themselves
If you follow your fearful supporters or members rather than plan and lead them some, then more, until most will move towards the future, and find a Party to lead in Government.Simply saying no is not leadership or Governing, it is protesting without solution-leaves you nothing
