Nationals MPs are threatening to derail Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s push to lock in a new climate target as they hold a party room meeting ahead of the COP26 conference in Glasgow.

Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce said a decision would be dictated by the Nationals’ party room and his role was to be an “impartial chair” of the meeting.

Energy Minister Angus Taylor was the one Liberal MP allowed into the room to brief Nationals MPs on the longer-term technology roadmap which would enable Australia to commit to a net zero target. He was also expected to be grilled by MPs on the specific details of the plan and how it would impact the regions.

Birmingham denies climate policy is being dictated by Coalition's conservative forcesAhead of a Coalition meeting to thrash out a deal on a net zero emissions reduction target, Federal Finance Minister Simon Birmingham denies that the Nationals were dictating climate policy. But that's because there's no coalition climate policy. They're good at denying stuff, this mob... Lol, the junior coalition partner is literally dictating what the PM is allowed to take to Glasgow, which will not be legislated since they might cross the floor auspol

The ‘net’ in net zero emissions offers a huge temptation to cheatPerhaps the hardest part of reaching net zero emissions by 2050 is the “net”. We won’t get to zero emissions without it, but it’s tricky and presents us with a great temptation to turn the whole exercise into a rort, writes 1RossGittins | OPINION ... 1RossGittins With this government? Cats out of the bag: Feral animals targeted near NT national parkFeral cats kill billions of Australia's native animals each year, experts say, and a pilot program in a small Northern Territory town may be the answer to the problem. domestic cats allowed to roam kill billions too Does that mean sussanley has decided to start working FOR the environment and not against. I won't hold my breath. I love cats but they are killing machines. My guess is we can never eliminate feral cats and they shall inherit the Earth after global warming destroys the planet creating a feline civilisation always at war with the rat federation.
