Nannies over day care? Parents want more flexibility for childcare subsidies | fergushunter

Half of the Australian families receiving childcare subsidies would prefer to spend the payments on informal alternatives like leaving children with relatives, friends or nannies.

Personal "warmth", location and affordability were highlighted by a large namber of parents as their priorities in childcare options.Fiona Mueller, co-author of the research, said only 9 per cent of parents nominated the qualifications of staff as their most important consideration and only 32 per cent named it as one of their top three priorities. 34 per cent included educational outcomes in childcare as a top three priority.

"The research clearly shows it is crucial for federal and state governments to consider how to offer choice and ensure taxpayer funds are spent effectively," she said.

fergushunter More middle class welfare

fergushunter How about incentives for parents to look after their own kids?

fergushunter but it'd be hard to police as it'd be abuse When it comes to money like NDIS n childcare joints r abusing d subsidy Not long ago a Lebanese was caught setting up faked NDIS n childcare providers

fergushunter Surely for families with 2 or more children requiring care having a Nannie looking after them in their own home would be more convenient and probably cheaper than long day care and after school care services. And less stressful for everyone

fergushunter Want, want, want.

Why one of Australia's leading gay rights activists wants to keep these 'holy relics' safeFlags made from the dresses of drag queens who fought New York police following the Stonewall Inn raid in 1969 are amongst gay rights memorabilia going into to a new archive to help people understand. 🤡 Good for him. Wish they'd repaint the gay Jesus at Tempe. Used to be the highlight of my train trips to Sydney. After all, he really was a gay stoner--the twelve blokes, the visions and shit. Coming out to the family as a gay may seem tough, but you try coming out as a National Socialist.
