The fact that Australia is sending two of its most senior government ministers to the US for defence talks shows the seriousness of the situation, according to the US Studies Centre’s James Brown.

Foreign Minister Marise Payne and Defence Minister Linda Reynolds opted for an in-person visit for the Australia–US Ministerial Consultation talks despite the offer of an online briefing. “It’s a time when there’s deep competition between the US and China,” Mr Brown told Sky News. “I think it’s really important the ministers have made the effort to go to the United States, nothing replaces the person-to-person diplomacy.

Discussions are expected to centre on the disputed Spratly islands in the South China Sea. The US is calling for "concrete cooperation" with "freedom of navigation exercises" asking for Australia to sail within 12 nautical miles of the islands - a move Australia has rejected. Australia did label China's claims to the islands "illegal" through the United Nations which enraged the Asian superpower.

A new Cold War is upon us. Down with the CCP

At least Russia is out of the picture. Trump & Putin had a chat last Thursday, Trump is refusing to discuss it. Interesting because the Trump & the White House are usually quiet chatty about their conversations with foreign leaders.

Exactly! The Chinese purposely spreading their virus international, was just the initial attack on the US & her allies. It was also the precursor for more attacks to come. Before we know it, we could be heading towards a Hot-War. We must not appease China. We must show strength

Seriousness of the situation: Scomo has been blindly following Trump who is losing 2020 election

Shows me that Trump is in control and is planning on how to get rid of our kiddy fiddling government with the help of the military

Suggests to me that we're about to get called on to support a regional 'military initiative”

Australia-US looking to ramp up joint military exercises in South China SeaAustralia and the United States are set to conduct more joint military exercises in the South China Sea following Canberra's decision to brand China's territorial claims unlawful at the United Nations. Don't do it Australia you are not a power house when it comes military, USA pretending yous are mates because they're gunning for war. Looks like Jared’s met his Australian counterpart. Two of the world’s emptiest puppets meet up for a MENSA convention. Very foolish game that we have no right to play. US is in the wrong on this unilateral escalation and we would do best to stay away and advise them to pull their head in.
