Mark Kenny, Senior Fellow at the Australian National University says in the Bridget McKenzie saga, “It’s a very clear case of political allocation of public funds and these revelations are just another nail in the coffin that was already being lowered.”

Mark Kenny, Senior Fellow at the Australian National University says “everything adds up to Bridget McKenzie’s position being untenable”. A whistleblower from Bridget McKenzie’s office told Sky News they were silenced when concerns were raised over the sports grant scandal.

Political Editor Andrew Clennell spoke at length with the whistleblower, who told Sky News when they raised their concerns they were told “this is how the minister wants to do it and we have to abide by that”. Mr Kenny said “there’s history in this area, of course we know about the whiteboard affair that took out Ros Kelly in the 90s in the allocation of sports grants”. “Politicising this was a very dangerous thing to do for the minister.
