A Sydney man was slapped with a $1494 fine after he was caught speeding to the South Coast - because he wanted to 'see the sunrise'.

NSW Police issued the gentleman two penalty notices for excess speed and for breaching COVID-19 public health orders.The man was travelling at 107kph . Picture: Traffic and Highway Patrol Command - NSW Police Force

He was charged $494 for excess speed, $1000 for breaching Public Health Orders, and was directed to return home immediately. Those living in the Fairfield, Canterbury-Bankstown, Liverpool, Cumberland, Blacktown, Parramatta, Georges River and Campbelltown LGAs cannot travel within a 5km radius from their home.
