Commuters have been warned to expect major disruptions as a train driver strike grinds the NSW rail network to a halt.

The Rail, Tram and Bus Union has planned for staff to stop work on all public regional and city rail networks between 9am and 1pm on Tuesday.

Transport for NSW chief operations officer Howard Collins said essential workers would need to find an alternative way to travel. “At the very least we're hoping that senior management will come to the table after tomorrow to have a proper conversation.” “This is lawful industrial action which they spent a lot of money fighting. If nothing changes after tomorrow there will be more action guaranteed,” Mr Claassens said.
