'Crazy', 'mad' and 'insane' gas market blamed for nation's power billsAustralians are reeling from electricity prices that have soared more than 130 per cent since 2015, and analysts say the number one culprit is the export of gas. Raise the price of Australian gas. Make the multinationals pay their tax. Raise the taxes on exports. Raise the royalties on gas. Slightly and gradually until the amount of gas exported leaves plenty for the domestic market. By doing so there will be a benefit to the environment. R_Chirgwin It’s not the market it’s the government. If you give our gas away this is what happens. BTW we have no fuel refineries and hardly any Australian flagged ships left so there’s another ‘market failure’ waiting to crush us. auspol The only reason the international demand, therefore price of gas, impacts on domestic power costs is because we shut down so many coal fired power stations. We could also be using solar thermal energy to gasify coal without the usual CO2 production that that process involves.

I think Labor will be elected, Liberals not offering strong vision: Bolt | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Andrew Bolt says he thinks Labor will be elected, as Liberals haven’t offered a ‘strong enough vision’ or ‘dared to argue’ against Labor’s global warming hype or its ‘crazy policy’. \n\nMr Bolt says it is ‘insane’ Opposition leader Bill Shorten promises a massive climate plan that would ‘kill most of remaining coal fired power stations, raise power prices, hurt farmers, and would make more motorists buy electric cars’, but won't tell Australians the cost of the plan. \n\nMr Bolt says if Labor is elected and brings in its policies, Australia will be hurt. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia\n The Australia Andrew Bolt wants will be hurt. The Australia most Australians want will come to fruition. Should a news organisation really be repeatedly advertising a directly partisan opinion piece? Do you have any misgivings at all about this? mediawatch ? ABCmediawatch ? Anyone ? Hurt? Like the hurt of the last six years? Like a failing economy, stagnant wages and doubled debt? On the scale of hurtiness, how hurty will it be?
