The Greens are on track to have all nine senators returned, with the party positioning itself as a balance of power force in the Senate.

The Greens' lower house ambitions have been dashed, despite high-profile campaigns in Higgins, Kooyong and Macnamara in Victoria.

Greens candidate for Macnamara Steph Hodgins-May takes a selfie with party leader Richard Di Natale on Saturday.Lower house MP Adam Bandt was comfortably returned to office, recording a whopping 74 per cent two-party preferred vote against the Liberals' Lauren Sherson, afterBut the Victorian seats of Wills and Cooper, which have also previously been touted as ripe for the picking, were disappointments for the party.

Labor's Josh Burns fended off both the Greens' Steph Hodgins-May and Liberal candidate Kate Ashmor to hold Macnamara . “I’m incredibly proud of the race we’ve run and I think this shows what is possible when you run a strong, clear campaign based on what you truly believe, not what you think people want to hear," he said.

Senator Di Natale was confident this was enough to return the party's six senators up for re-election. Another three senators' terms are ongoing.

If Denatale had any moral convictions he should step down given the results achieved on Saturday night. His performance throughout this campaign was disgusting.

Denatale is a joke Sarah Hanson Young a disgrace and the greens as a whole a mindless Ruble. Get rid of the greens an Labor will prosper. If Labor goes in bed with the greens again then 2022 result will be the same as 2919.

I should be asking the Greens they will know. What is the full and plain definition of climate change. No statements required. Just the scientific definition. No one I have spoken to in years can give a correct definition. Include % man made affects we can fix.

All the Greens ever achieve in the Senate is total disruption to parliamentary business.

Labor certainly gambled promising the greens the world for their preferences.........Labor and Greens are poles apart. Shorten paid the penalty for knifing their blue collar workers in the back.

That’s a shame they are rubbish!

greens Melanoma cancer

Their vote went down over the national electorate... hopefully this ridiculous party goes the same as the Aussie Democrats

Who gives a toss about Greens and the Senate. If you do you live in a fantasy land

Higgins is sick of the Liberals: Richard Di Natale | Sky News AustraliaGreens candidate Jason Ball hopes to steal the affluent inner-Melbourne seat of Higgins, currently held by outgoing Minister for Women Kelly O'Dwyer, with the help of his party leader Richard Di Natale. \n\nWhile Higgins is traditionally a safe seat, held on a 7.4 per cent margin against the Greens and a buffer of 10.1 per cent against Labor, Senator Di Natale said on Saturday that voters are sick of climate inaction.\n\nHe says, ‘lifetime Liberal voters’ feel like their vote hasn’t counted in the seat, so they’re turning to the Greens ‘for the very first time’.\n\n\n\n What a truly noble quest A white male taking a seat from a female doesn’t help fight the patriarchy. Greens should forfeit in every seat where a white male is against a female incumbent. You know, to promote more women in parliament like they say they want.
