Sydney has won a bid to host major international LGBTQI event WorldPride in 2023, beating Montreal and Houston.
The city's victory was announced in Athens at the InterPride annual general meeting on Sunday night . The event, slated for February and March 2023, will coincide with the 45th anniversary of Sydney's Mardi Gras parade and it will be the first time it's held in the southern hemisphere. NSW Minister for Arts Don Harwin said the event would attract thousands of international visitors and put Sydney"on the world map as a truly inclusive and united global city".
