MORNING BRIEFING: Dave Sharma looks set to defeat independent Kerryn Phelps and bring the all-important seat of Wentworth back to the Liberals, while the member for Hunter warns Labor needs to return to the 'sensible centre' and reconnect with its blue-collar base.

A Labor frontbencher has issued a stinging assessment of the party's policies outlined during the federal election campaign, saying they tracked"a little to the left".despite a 10 per cent swing, said Labor needed to reconnect with its blue-collar base.

"We need to stick to the sensible centre and push reform in an incremental way and in an orderly way and properly explain why change is necessary to people," he said.A man will face a Sydney court today after allegedly stabbing another man in the city's inner-west. Police say a 28-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his neck and back when they were called to a home at Stanmore.

He is now in a stable condition in hospital and a 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene and refused bail.

very short-lived 'outrage' in the Wentworth electorate. with the choice between Climate Change and Franking credits .... considering the money hungry voters of the electorate .. Climate Change policy never had a chance🙄

Sorry Joel u got thumped by being too too much Melbourne centric we just pushed back

Such good news

Majority for liberals...........WOW, 3rd term.

Seems folk have waited patiently for the fat lady to stop singing. The hopes and aspirations of right thinking, mainstream Australians who wanted to see an end to identity politics was answered. There is a god after all...

Nice how there's always a huge chunk of 'It's YOUR fault' gaslighting to go with these headlines. It's like people deliberately rolling their cars into ditches and blaming the NRMA. Labor didn't make your decision, you did. Own it.

How brave. Do less!!

yeah, Labor's left policies and aufentic politicians
