While Brooke Field never knew a life without eczema, the severe skin condition has left her feeling "pretty helpless" at times.

Diagnosed as a baby, Ms Field, from Newcastle, said through her life her eczema which can flare randomly and cover her limbs and face has left her bullied at school, unable to play sports and affected her ability to work. All that took a toll on her mental health. "I had very low self-esteem, and I still have pretty low self-esteem. There were days where I would get up and wouldn't look in the mirror because I was too scared of what I would look like," she said.Credit:On Thursday, Eczema Support Australia is presenting a submission to Parliament to have Dupixent immediately added to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme subject to approval from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee.

"I've seen this with some individuals I've met with compassionate access; they've told me they didn't realise what having a life meant until they went on Dupixent," she said.Gayle Ross, a dermatologist who heads the severe eczema clinic at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, said eczema was much more than just itchy skin, and mental health conditions were a recognised part of it.

"I think a huge number of patients with severe eczema do have significant anxiety and depression related to their skin; [it] feeds back into the not sleeping, not feeling good about yourself and just the hopelessness of having a chronic skin condition that has not been effectively treated," she said.

Calls for Australian political parties to introduce a 20 per cent target for non-white candidatesA new policy paper published by a Chinese-Australian think tank has argued for greater measures to ensure greater racial diversity in parliament. Chinazi This is where the identity politics pursued by the left is leading. Any group that collectively can scrape a % will be asking for their own quotas. Do you see the stupidity of that? How is that for the best of the country? Another way for the CCP to invade influence and ultimately take over Austraila. CCP already own half of Austraila.
