Bill Shorten is set to visit the Spencer Gulf in South Australia to unveil plans for a Renewable Energy Zone in the region.

Labor says the remote area has shown potential to produce wind, solar and hydro energy.

It follows Labor’s announcement last year that the party would establish a series of ‘zones’ to develop Australia’s renewable energy industry, and deliver its 50 per cent renewable energy target. The zone will encompass the stretch from the north of Adelaide, along the Yorke Peninsula, and around the top of the Spencer Gulf down to Whyalla.

Labor considers referendum on Indigenous voice to parliament | Sky News AustraliaLabor is considering holding a referendum on an Indigenous 'voice to parliament' if it wins government at next months federal election.\n\nLabor's would-be minister for Indigenous Affairs, Pat Dodson, says the public would be given a guide on how the scheme 'could work', but its final form would be decided in parliament.\n\nThe Uluru Statement from the Heart and the Referendum Council called for the Indigenous representative body in 2017, though it was rejected by the Turnbull government.\n\nThe Morrison government has echoed its predecessor's view, rejecting it on the basis that it would become a 'third chamber of parliament' and never gain public support.\n\nImage: News Corp Australia\n\n\n\n billshortenmp I don't understand what 'recognition' is supposed to accomplish. The 'weasel' is still at it. Why hadn't his party done something about it when they were in Government?
