Erin Wardrop picked the biggest game of the year — the St George Dragons’ AFL Sydney women’s division three grand final win against Holroyd Parramatta Goannas — to unleash the most athletic spoil you’ll ever see. With her legs in an airborne split, Wardrop stretches to prevent a mark by Michala Ford in an act of defensive genius that would have thrilled late AFL great Danny Frawley and surely featured in his “Golden Fist” segment on Fox Footy’s Bounce program.

“Omggg Ahahahhaha how did I manage that,” said Wardrop, when the photograph by Nigel Owen was posted to AFL NSW/ACT’s Instagram account. It’s not as though the freakish display was a one-off either. In the very same game, Wardrop, who is also an elite cheerleader, evaded a player who went to ground in front of her by performing a somersault, regained her footing immediately and then laid a huge tackle which saw the ball spill loose and created an opportunity for a teammate.Div 3 Grand Final win in our first season on the weekend, but this one is amazing.
