High school alumni talk about why they stuck with their formal date, or the heartache of breaking up with their first love.

In 2005, a nervous Dean Vasil asked to take HSC study partner Angie Pana to his end-of-high-school formal.

"I could definitely sense some nerves in him and we were both happy and relieved after he asked, and I said yes with no hesitation whatsoever. "I complimented him on how hot he looked in his suit pants, and he still has those pants to this day — despite not being able to fit into them anymore."The event was the couple's first official date and start to their 17 years together."I was so happy whilst dating Dean that it never crossed my mind that I was missing out on anything more," she said.

"We have worked hard to make it work through ups and downs, and our relationship is the best it has ever been." "He ended up having a couple of CIO roles in the finance sector, so both his parents and mine misjudged him drastically."
