When single mum Megan Short realised she had no money or food to feed her daughter, she asked a group of strangers on social media for help. And she wasn't alone.

Some weeks Ms O'connor will coordinate 40 to 50 meals while also cooking extra food to fill the three freezers she keeps in her shed.

"I had one lady say she was sitting in her car and she didn't know what she was going to feed the family for the next few days. "I put a post up with some meals and when she came over she just burst into tears and said thank you so much," she said. Some of those on the community-driven social media group even give back when they can."I've got my daughter, so if I start to struggle I can just go on the page and someone will give enough meals to last a couple of days," she said."Sometimes as a way of saying thanks I'll actually pass on meals myself if I've made too much," she said.
