Managers at Adelaide's biggest prison praised guards on "a job well done in a crisis" after an Aboriginal man was taken to hospital unconscious, an inquest has heard.Wayne Fella Morrison died in hospital in September 2016 days after the incident at YatalaThe inquest previously heard Mr Morrison assaulted three officers before he was restrained

Corrections officer Jean-Guy Townsend — who was one of the prison guards involved in transporting Mr Morrison in the van when he became unresponsive — told the inquest the guards were immediately praised by then-acting general manager of the prison, Darren Hosking, at a debrief after Mr Morrison was taken to hospital.

"He referred us to the employees assistance program and then asked us — anyone who had a dirty or ripped uniform to go to the change rooms or home to change and then submit reports."Mr Townsend said all the prison's managers were present at the meeting and supported Mr Hosking's comments. in advance against any question that could incriminate them, saying nearly all questions except the officers' names, job descriptions and starting dates at the prison could expose the guards to a risk of self-incrimination.
