Fifty years on, family of strangled Canberra woman are no nearer to answers

Keren Rowland was five months pregnant and dearly looking forward to being a mother when she went missing on the evening of February 26, 1971.

Police believe Keren was dragged to her final resting place as her possessions were located in a "relatively straight line" from a track towards her body. Her arms were still above her head when her body was found. The Canberran had been driving behind her sister's car as they headed to a party when her white Mini Morris 850 slipped out of view. A day later it was discovered on Parkes Way, Campbell with no petrol in the tank.Fifty years on from her death he's still searching for answers.

"She was trusting, probably too trusting," he said, explaining witnesses saw a person in a car pull alongside Keren on Parkes Way, in the suburb of Campbell, after her white Mini Morris ran out of petrol.Mr Rowland said the 20-year-old's movements were too erratic to have been premeditated that night.Keren Rowland was five months pregnant. Although she didn't know the gender of her baby she was 'happy and excited' and had started buying baby clothes.
