The former Greens leader rejected claims his anti-Adani convoy backfired

Bob Brown says "greed won" over climate action in the federal election after Labor's poor showing in Queensland, rejecting claims his anti-Adani convoy backfired.

Labor failed to make an impact in the state, where a slew of marginal seats went the Liberal National Party's way to swing the election in favour of the Morrison coalition government.

Bob brown cost Labor the election. When he showed up in Qld with a bunch of fuel guzzling 4wds and said, 'Cmon Qld, give up your livelihoods', Qlders went to the ballot box and said, 'Nah Bob, we're not doing that' I saw that happening the moment he showed up in Qld

It was the dumbest move during the whole campaign

Slightly ignorant point of view, Bob!

Backfired like all those old combustable cars u drove up to Queensland in. 🚙🚌🚎🚗

Passionate environmentalist. Crap politician.

You can’t tell people they’re greedy, selfish & stupid & expect them to vote for you

Of course he would. But it damaged Labor enormously.

Couldn't we focus more on our own carbon intensive lifestyles? Us greenies are still jet-setting around the world - making our carbon footprints among the highest in the world! If we focused on us, perhaps we'd cause less polarization and begin to pave a green pathway for others.

Bob Brown is wrong.

No insight.

boy is he in touch with the people, just like that idiot bowen

Of course it impacted. You can’t waltz into FNQ and expect them to say thx Bob for putting us back on the right track. The Greens leads with its heart - start figuring the politics. You can’t form Gov. Think of advantages and alliances. Take a look at what the NP has done.

IMO Lies won the election told repeatedly by the lnpcorruption and NEVER once questioned by this worthless bias MSM they can all go to hell and hopefully broke TV Radio and so-called newspapers.

It backfired. More so than the shitty fuel guzzling vehicles that he rolled into town with.

BillDobell Green modus operandi - never ever admit you got it wrong. Just pull out the holier than thou card.

The Religion of Climate Change is for the well-to-do and not the poor.

Well Bob Brown is not going to say .. I stuffed up !! Look at the scoreboard ..

Mr Brown, it is not being greedy to protect what one has spent a lifetime building so as to have an enjoyable retirement. To have the prospect of the ALP wishing always to steal that from one is why the Coalition won out.

Gas guzzling emission spewing diesel 4wd’s. You just couldn’t make it up if you tried. Greedy people buy these Tooral Tractors and then blame others for ‘global warming ‘

he was parading a red rag to Qld bulls They care more abt coal jobs than climate

BillDobell Of course Bob would never reflect that maybe the voters just believe his philosphy is just wrong

The convoy wasn't to convince QLD, it was to shore up the Vic vote. auspol

Jackthelad1947 Fear won, and you didn’t help Brown

Jackthelad1947 In the end people always vote for their own hip pocket - wants best for them

Bob brown it backfired mate. So funny to see too. You all got the big smack that was along overdue.

Has never taken responsibility for anything, the damage he inflicted on Tasmania will last for generations. It is an economic wasteland Has no sense of ordinary Australia See’s the world as something he can bend to his will He just elected the LNP, gives the greens a purpose

Why NOT campaign in India, China and Pakistan where billions of people are burning all the fossil fuels we sell them?

I like Bob I think he always has some good environmental ideas. The problem is the convey was city inspired with most car coming from southern states. The election to me showed there is a real split between city/country and north(QLD) and south (part,Vic). Jobs V environment.

It backfired just like The Greens opposition to the ETS backfired. An entire decade of climate inaction, and now a government run by a man who proudly brandished a lump of coal at the dispatch box. You muppets got the exact opposite of what you wanted. Pull your head out.

Congradulations to Bob Brown for p!ssing off QLDers who all joined together and kept Labor out of Goverment! His achievement has managed to defeat the Climate Change election and keep Labor out of power for a generation!

Of course it backfired 11% swings to LNP in the region around the Adani mine - was free publicity for the LNP. Bob Brown added passionate 'anti green' momentum. LNP 58% in Queensland was a riot - similarly GetUp backfired too.

Not greed, Bob. Debt—which makes people less free to make selfless, socially & environmentally-conscious choices due to the precarious nature of their ‘wealth’. Individuals in debt are more likely to vote Liberal. Apply Chomsky on student debt to the Indebted Mortgage Class here

The Labor loss in QLD has nothing to do with Bob or The Greens. The Greens outpolled One Nation in the Senate in Queensland, recording an almost five per cent swing to the party. Overall numbers were up for The Greens. Try again, haters.

Says the old man on a Senate pension

It would be all too easy to blame Bob. It’s selfishness, greed, climate-denial, racism and bigotry that lost the election. There’s no other reason to vote for Pauline and Palmer - and that’s the preference flow that helped them over the line in Queensland. Nothing to do with Bob.

Well he would say that, wouldn't he? Bob Brown is one of those peculiarly petulant people for whom blame for problems ALWAYS sits anywhere but with him. He overstepped the mark. A disgraceful backfire; he deserves to be pilloried.🚫🚫

Bob. You are admired as a leader for many reasons. All respect you. Don't worry. We will get it sorted. You have got a good team.

Well it rid backfire

The Greens never accept criticism, or failure, never. They split the left vote to earn a living. Voters and the system are always wrong, not the Greens.

Cmon Bob your many things but not an Ostrich .I think we all acknowledge the power of one process, of corse it backfired. Coal is one thing , running a country and implementing balanced reality policies is I suspect a little more challenging. PS,Paris is not about global warming

Simply delusional 😳😳😳

It lost QLD and that's the must win state everyone knows that except the greens.

Delusional working people don't smug people telling they are stupid and ignorant.

Bob Brown's utopia.

Greens haven’t gone anywhere in a decade. Last two leaders have been as useless as tits on a bull.

It is called self preservation

Drugs are bad for all Greens IQ

Greens set to retain Senate seats and increase primary vote in early countThe Greens are hopeful of retaining all six of the nine Senate seats they have up for re-election. Dana_Adele The Greens got 10.1% of the primary vote, compared with 11.76% under Bob Brown's leadership in the 2010 election. In 9 years they have gone backward in terms of their primary vote even when presented with the opportunity of the 'climate change election'. Dana_Adele Wait until the younger generation come through - the tide will turn eventually 💚 Dana_Adele But we mustn’t forget. We’ll have to try a bit harder to help them.
