New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian is resisting a lockdown but says if a number of unlinked cases emerge then the health advice will be adjusted.

The state has recorded 10 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases – five of which were found before 8pm on Monday night including two announced yesterday. There was also a further seven cases recorded after 8pm. “We follow Dr Chant and the health advice,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“At this stage because all but one case is linked to an existing case and that case was only discovered a few hours ago, that gives us a degree of confidence that what we have asked people to do matches the risk that is there at the moment. “If that changes, if we suddenly have a number of unlinked cases and if we suddenly have them outside the geographic region they are concentrated in, that will obviously adjust the health advice and we will respond to that.

All the new Covid restrictions in SydneyFour new Covid-19 cases in Sydney have prompted NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian to introduce several restrictions relating to masks across greater Sydney, Wollongong and Shellharbour. Is the Sutherland shire included to wear mandatory masks indoors or no? It’s not very clear Window dressing at best. Not one worker in a CBD office has to wear a mask under this directive, as they are private spaces.

Berejiklian comfortable with restrictions despite growing Sydney cluster | Sky News AustraliaNew South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian has said she was comfortable with the current restrictions in Greater Sydney, despite the Bondi cluster growing to nine cases. \n\nAuthorities are keeping a close eye on the outbreak which been identified as the highly infectious Delta strain. \n\nThousands of people have been urged to come forward for testing, regardless of symptoms. \n\nThis includes anyone who attended the Bondi Junction shopping centre on June 12 or 13, and the Birkenhead Point outlet on June 15. \n\nMasks are mandatory on public transport until Wednesday, and seven local government areas across Sydney have made masks compulsory for indoor occasions. \n\nMore detail regarding the latest alerts and exposure sites can be found on the NSW Health website.\n After all her grand standing she is desperately hoping this doesn’t get out of control and she has to do what other states have done. Good luck with that. (PS I hope that it doesn’t. I don’t wish a lockdown on anyone) They just don’t report if anyone is a critical case anymore. Not news worthy to say 9 people with no symptoms. Why doesn’t Peter Daszak’s name appear on google predictions? See screen recording. Is google working to protect Peter Daszak? Please look into this ASAP

Australia-UK trade agreement a ‘win-win’ for both sides | Sky News AustraliaAustralia and the United Kingdom’s free trade agreement is a “win-win” for both sides, according to Victoria Treadell.\n\nMs Treadell, the British high commissioner to Australia, said she hoped to see tariffs “come right down” over more than a decade. \n\n“This is a win-win for both sides, it is about economic growth and jobs,” she told Sky News Australia.\n\n“For our consumers, I think this is where the great benefit will come from greater choice and lower cost, particularly as we move towards the tariff-free elements that are enshrined in the agreement in principle as we nut that out and finalise the detail into the full-blown free trade agreement.\n\n“The opportunity for Australian farmers, for example, back into the UK market.\n\n“If you take your lamb meat industry, currently it can face up to 80 per cent tariffs on Australian lamb going into the UK and you have a similar picture on your beef.\n\n“Our ambition, over a 10 to 15-year phasing period, is to see those tariffs come right down.” Well, the current High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Australia would say that, wouldn't she? How come you never called out ScottMorrisonMP for travelling O/S while Australia is the only democracy who doesn't allow citizens to leave? I should know as I've applied 20 times for an exemption. He also didn't have to pay 3k in quarantine. auspol MurdochGutterMedia

Slow vaccine rollout may prove to be a ‘positive’ for Australia’s economy | Sky News AustraliaSky News contributor Peter Switzer says the slow pace of the vaccine rollout may actually turn out to be a “positive” for the nation’s economy since the closed borders are forcing Australians to spend their money at home. \n\n“In many ways the opening of our borders is going to be a very important step forward for the economy,” he said.\n\n“You’ve got to remember, something like $65 billion is spent by Australians every year when they go overseas. That money is here and, in a sense, it’s creating a lot of stimulus for the economy. \n\n“We wouldn’t want this to go on forever.\n\n“I think the AstraZeneca problems on one hand have slowed up the opening of our economy, but on the other hand I guess the fact that our vaccination program’s so slow … it might prove to be a positive in the end”. \n Stupid comment.
