Australia and the United Kingdom’s free trade agreement is a “win-win” for both sides, according to Victoria Treadell.

Ms Treadell, the British high commissioner to Australia, said she hoped to see tariffs “come right down” over more than a decade. “This is a win-win for both sides, it is about economic growth and jobs,” she told Sky News Australia.

“For our consumers, I think this is where the great benefit will come from greater choice and lower cost, particularly as we move towards the tariff-free elements that are enshrined in the agreement in principle as we nut that out and finalise the detail into the full-blown free trade agreement. “The opportunity for Australian farmers, for example, back into the UK market.
