Ten new cases were recorded in the state overnight, bringing the Bondi cluster’s total to 21 cases. “Last year, we talked about this particular virus when it first came to our shores as being obviously dangerous but it wasn't a long jumper and it wasn’t a high jumper,” Minister Hazzard said. “We talked about the necessity for the 1.5 metre social distancing, that is still crucial.

“We also need to recognise that the Delta variant of the COVID virus is actually a gold medallist when it comes to jumping from one person to another - it is a long jumper. “Take it very, very seriously, follow the guidelines that NSW Health and the New South Wales government established. We are all in this together, but we want to get out of it together, safe and sound we need to take it very seriously".
