German police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are searching an allotment near Hanover in the country's north. The site is 60 kilometres from the city of Braunschweig, where a key suspect was last registered as living.

A German citizen, who can be named only as Christian B, was identified as a suspect in the case last month German prosecutors previously said they had concrete evidence Christian B was involved in Madeleine's disappearance. The prosecutors also believe Madeleine is dead. Madeleine was three when she disappeared from an apartment in the seaside town of Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007.
