Foxtel flags more streaming services as it unveils news-based Flash | zoesam93

News Corp-controlled pay TV and streaming company Foxtel is assessing whether it should develop topic-based streaming products in the future after it launched its third streaming service, 24-hour news focused Flash.

“We have largely got the major categories covered...are there are sub-categories of that that could be a big force on their own? We think there are opportunities - we’re exploring it,” Mr Ogrin, who also runs Kayo Sports and Binge, said. “I would say possibly yes [more services], but right now the focus will be to make sure we get Flash off to a good start.”

Mr Ogrin said he is expecting Flash to attract corporate customers as well as regular viewers, given its ability to broadcast multiple screens at the same time. “We’ve certainly seen interest in using it as a tool of trade,” Mr Ogrin said. “We think there are great opportunities in financial markets, public sector, federal, state, local government agencies and departments.”

The comments were made as Foxtel’s shareholders News Corp and Telstra continue to progress plans for a public listing early next year.
