Extreme floods contaminates Senegal's Lake Retba, turning its famous waters from pink to green and threatening the livelihoods of the thousands of people who live nearby.

abc.net.au/news/senegal-lake-retba-loses-pink-colour-after-flooding/101921790On the shore of Senegal's pink lake, salt farmer Pape Sira Ba has raked in what he fears may be his last harvest.

This made it one of the west-African country's most visited attractions and put it under consideration for listing as a UNESCO World Heritage site. But everything changed last September when torrential rains hit the capital Dakar 30 kilometres away and swept floodwaters towards the lake, tearing a wide channel in its bank.

The flooding destroyed 7,000 tonnes of salt, according to the Lake Retba salt extractors association."What happened is unprecedented," he said. The salt farmers are among 3,000 people who lived off the lake. Boatmen and souvenir sellers also fear for their future if the waters fail to recapture their famous hue.

"The over-salinisation of the water also allowed visitors to float on top of the lake like in the Dead Sea. Currently, we have no customers," Mr Dieng said. The ongoing influx of sediment-heavy water could permanently change the lake's unusual ecosystem, hydrologist Cheikh Youm said.

Bosses brought back to bargaining table by IR overhaul, talent gapsUnions have begun using new unilateral powers to restart collective bargaining as they welcome “a shift” in employers’ attitudes in the face of extreme labour turnover. I dont like Unions BUT... the evidence clearly shows that they do more good then harm in this climate. I'd argue we need Community Cabinets. Community meetings where communitys can discuss future issues. A kind of Union representing the people at those meetings to see change.

La Nina to increase NSW bushfire riskThousands of residents across New South Wales are on notice to prepare for extreme bushfires before the year's end. A rare hat trick of La Nina’s has led to supercharged growth of grass and vegetation across the state. The New South Wales Rural Fire Service believes more than 2,600 communities are at risk of blazes over the next two summers. Not a chance, it’s been too wet for anything to be dried up enough to spark roaring bushfires! We haven’t been in a drought and not enough dead, dry undergrowth to catch. The only fires will be government weather manipulated ones like the 2019/20 ones. Modern day firestarters 👇🏻 Climate alarmists have no boundaries. Wish I can come over and help out with my Service

Flood victims urged to seek mental health support as recovery phase beginsSouth Australia's chief psychiatrist is recommending Murray River communities seek mental health support sooner rather than later, after residents endured a prolonged pre-disaster period. Telling them to put their boats in deeper water before the water levels drop would've been timelier... Ps. not referring to the dingy. The support would be to fix their homes quickly
