South Australia's chief psychiatrist is recommending Murray River communities seek mental health support sooner rather than later, after residents endured a prolonged pre-disaster period.

abc.net.au/news/mental-health-support-for-flooded-river-murray-communities/101916726South Australia's chief psychiatrist is recommending Murray River communities seek mental health support sooner rather than later as they enter the recovery phase of last month's flood event.

"It was pretty scary because this is the first time our levee bank's been through a flood, so we didn't really know if that was gonna cope," she said. Ms Lloyd says the support of friends and family during that stressful time was crucial to keeping her family's spirits high.

Mr Murray said there were 17 electorates that voted ‘No’ in the same-sex marriage plebiscite a few years ago and most of the ones that voted ‘No’ had a “significant migrant population”. “We certainly know that there is a different relationship between multi-generational Australians and new Australians as to the questions around things like Australia Day and of course the wide issues about whether or not there need to be Indigenous recognition in the constitution,' he said. “So all polls still point to the idea that ‘Yes’ will win but if ‘Yes’ it doesn’t, or if it’s close, don’t be surprised if the communities of colour are the ones who made it so.' They are called Australians not Migrants 🤣 What's that irrelevant xenophobe's point? Shouldn't get a say unless they are naturalized
