Sabrina Withers was forced to sell her grandmother's home to Melbourne Airport two years ago, to make way for a proposed east-west runway. Now, it's happening to her.

Sabrina Withers' grandmother was forced to sell her home of 40 years to Melbourne Airport to make way for a proposed east-west runway.

She is now thinking of selling, because "having the flight path on our back doorstep will be unbearable". "At the very least, we need a night-time curfew, but we also need sound insulation in our homes and noise abatement procedures to be robustly followed," Melbourne Airport Community Action Group spokeswoman Hannah Robertson said."Research shows aircraft noise increases anxiety and depression, it is known to disrupt sleep. It affects children's learning and cognitive function where schools are affected by aircraft noise.

Planning controls in place to manage the amenity impacts of aircraft noise are based on a 16-year-old noise forecasting map. "We are conscious that residents around the airport will be subjected to aircraft noise to varying degrees and as part of our planning process we will be seeking to understand that in more detail," he said.

Prince Andrew says he 'let the side down' over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein | Sky News AustraliaPrince Andrew has spoken publicly for the first time about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, saying he 'let the side down' as a member of the Royal Family.\n\nThe scandal involving the American billionaire and allegations against the Duke of York have led Buckingham Palace to issue a number of unexpected statements in the past four years, denying the prince had sex with a 17-year-old girl and that he knew anything of Epstein's crimes against underage girls.\n\nBut in a dramatic move for a member of the Royal Family, the Duke of York decided the time had come to speak publicly.\n\nIn an interview with BBC's Newsnight, due to be aired on Saturday at 9pm, he was asked about why he stayed with Epstein after the billionaire had admitted having sex with an underage girl.\n\nThe duke said, 'I stayed with him and that's… that's… that's the bit that… that… that, as it were, I kick myself for on a daily basis because it was not something that was becoming of a member of the Royal Family and we try and uphold the highest standards and practices and I let the side down, simple as that.'\n 'let the side down'...seems like a pretty weak apology for having sex with children. Oh, there's a 'side'? Well at least we got that out in the open... Just getting ahead of the bombshells to come.
