Sky News contributor Chris Smith says music festivals are playing “the victim” with their threats to leave the state of NSW over claims they were not involved in government consultation to make events safer for the public.

“About 50 per cent of their income comes from these festivals in the state of NSW,” Mr Smith told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “This is where the money is. This is where the audience is. “If the festivals didn’t have dead children in their midst at the events the government wouldn’t have to act on this. “I have no sympathy for them.” Image: Getty

NSW game over😂😂

Let them leave. 🤷‍♂️

Festivals are victim of Government posturing, bad policy & heavy handedness. Festivals have little control over what patrons conceal on them, yet the government wants to make festivals responsible. I’d abandon NSW & go interstate.

Have an honest conversation with your kids Chris. You might learn an inconvenient truth.

The nanny state party drives the drug crisis. Try being on minimum wage & paying $12 for a light beer after queing up an hour. If you actually can afford half a dozen beers you then have security all over you. No wonder people just pop a couple $20 pills.

Let 'em go, no loss!

drug use, deaths, assaults and massive drain on police resources, no loss.

Drug fest is all they are. People don't overdose or die going to the Opera.

It's pretty uncomplicated really ... Fearless, 'UNCompromised' LAW '&' ENFORCEMENT .... DUH !? G'Day chrissmithonair

Boo Hoo to festivals. they have known the risks and they have ignored them.

Drought gives NSW 'incentive, motivation' to push for extra dams | Sky News AustraliaNSW Water Minister Melinda Pavey says the state’s severe drought has given the government “the incentive and motivation” to get extra dams on the way. \n \n“In the past, there hasn’t been the money or the political will,” Ms Pavey told Sky News host Chris Kenny. \n \nMs Pavey said she hopes to have “ approvals done within six months” for the Dungowan, Wyangala, and Mole River dams. \n \nThe Water Minister’s statements come as dam levels continue to drop. \n \nCity drinking water supplies are at 48.1 per cent, whilst rural supplies are at 31 per cent.\n And concentrate on food storage Wish Queensland would do the same and build more dams. Our Labor State government are hopeless only interested in giving pay rises to Public Servants. Missing the point I'm near Napean Dam close to Sydney its drying up. Avon dam is closed and others in poor state. If you haven't water to fill dams why build them? It's water management stupid, look at the Murray Darling system a bloody mess, yet we harp on about it doing nothing

Theresa May has 'Machiavellian moment' in UK parliament | Sky News AustraliaThe West Australian's Gemma Tognini has described Theresa May's 'almost Machiavellian' moment, saying 'could you see her smirking in parliament', after British MPs have voted against giving their approval to a new Brexit deal. \n\nMs Tognini said the former Conservative leader, Theresa May, 'was loving herself sick at that moment.' \n\nMs Tognini's comments came after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had been forced to write to the European Union, requesting a three-month delay to Brexit - despite his plan to take the UK out of the EU on October 31st. \n\nMr Johnson was legally forced to request a delay after MPs voted against giving their approval to the Brexit deal until all necessary legislation has been passed.\n\n'She has always been a remainder,' said Ms Tognini. \n\n[Theresa May] should never have been leading Brexit because she didn’t truly believe in it and the fruit of that was proven in the outcome for her,' Ms Tognini told Sky News host Chris Kenny. \n\nImage: Associated Press Oh she must be so proud of herself, along with a lot of others in the British Parliament ! They didn't vote on the new brexit deal (EU Treaty), they voted to extend having to. Nothing about Teresa May says 'strategic thinker.' She's just another soulless technocrat. She was just rehashing last nights' discussion on reinventing the number 0 for a genderless society in her mind.

Media unites in fight for press freedom - 2600 | Sky News AustraliaThe front pages of every major newspaper are censored this morning as part of Australia’s Right to Know campaign which is calling for greater protections for journalists and access to information. Totally agree If journalist want to be taken seriously then stop doing fake news, be neutral and be prepared to call out other journalist if they print fake news or are not neutral. Until that occurs then you get what you deserve and shouldn't get any protections. Self Administer The government will need to think very carefully about the demands from the media on journalists freedom. The journalists need to fare and just in reporting any news. If too much freedom is granted journalists will err and eventually be negative.
