NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell says schools are “well prepared” for students to return and are asking families to take a “common sense approach”.

Students in NSW will return to full time learning in the classroom from Monday as the state moves to ease lockdown restrictions. Ms Mitchell told Sky News it was expected that all parents should send their children back to school and could be “reassured” by the protocols put in place.

She said social distancing measures were being implemented for adults on school grounds, extra cleaning supplies allocated to the classrooms and efficient lockdown processes ready to be rolled out in the case of an outbreak. “We are still saying please keep your kids at home if they are still sick but if they’re well we expect normal attendance to start from today,” she said. “We have got good systems in place and I think parents should be reassured by that.

We know its a contentious time easing restrictions and having all students return; we hope that (as best you can) that students and staff stay safe and healthy. Many of our participants have waited eagerly to return to school, at least to see friends and get back to F2F learning

NSWEducation you should take a common sense. You had a phased plan only two weeks ago, and changed your own plan? NSW has most cases and active cases, why reopen schools earlier than ACT and VIC? you are using students and teachers as Lab Rats. auspol

“common sense approach” Government was elected to lead.......so lead FFS!

JobKeeper windfall 'very good news': Taylor | Sky News AustraliaA revision to the cost of the government’s JobKeeper program is “very good news” for the economy, according to Energy Minister Angus Taylor. \n\nThe government on Friday revealed a costing error by Treasury meant the wage subsidy scheme was initially forecast $60 billion higher than was required. \n\nIt is now estimated the JobKeeper program will cost the government $70 billion and will cover about 3.5 million workers. \n\nSpeaking with Sky News, Mr Taylor downplayed claims of a mistake within Treasury insisting the $130 billion figure was only ever a “forecast”. \n\n“This was a forecast, an update of the forecast, the original forecast was based on the best information available and this was a more subsequent update,” he said. \n\n“This was not an objective or a target. Only the Labor Party could think spending more money is a target.”\n\nMr Taylor said the revision indicated the economy was in better shape than was anticipated. \n\n“It is actually very good news. It means on the ground, and that’s where it counts, it means businesses are in better shape than we may have anticipated when those original forecasts were put in place on the best information available,” Mr Taylor said. \n\n“It does mean we are in a better position as we work our way towards recovery.”\n\nA review into the scheme will be carried out by the government in June. Early superannuation scheme a 'burden on future economy' | Sky News AustraliaLabor leader Anthony Albanese has again taken aim at the government over its early superannuation scheme. \n\nMr Albanese said the scheme – which allows eligible citizens to apply for up to $10,000 from their superannuation – was threatening Australia’s future economy. \n\n“Australians who are struggling have taken $13.2 billion out of their own superannuation accounts,” he said. \n\n“That means they have less in their retirement savings. It also means the cost to the future economy, the burden which is there on retirement, will be greater on Australians and on our national economy.'\n\nImage: News Corp Australia AlboMP Albo won’t have to worry about that, he won’t lead Labor to the next election anyway...
