A man who sexually assaulted and murdered a Cambodian refugee in Melbourne three decades ago is sentenced to a lengthy prison term.

Police used DNA techniques not available at the time of the murder to match Mean's DNA with semen and blood found at the scene. The court heard how Mean had arrived in Australia with his family on the same aeroplane as Ranny Yun and her sister in August 1985.

Mean had no birth certificate, but Supreme Court Judge Jane Dixon said she was satisfied he was aged at least 17 at the time of the murder."Although you were a young person in 1987 you were able to use your physical strength to subdue Ranny Yun in the course of attacking her." "Whilst it is not clear exactly how your sexual behaviour unfolded, it was a part of the event and adds to the gravity of what took place," she said.

"Having escaped civil war in Cambodia, it is tragic that Ranny's life was ended by you at a time when she was still adapting to her new life in her home in Springvale."

An unfortunate occurrence that is played out every day all over Australia. The ease at which unsuspecting and vulnerable elderly are coerced into entering into a POA is extremely common. Lawyers (POA) fees are outrageous and then they hold up execution of the will for months EVERY well paid professionals would like to take benefit of the elderly, politican, lawyers, wealthy business peoples, CEOs.. Very sad to be older.
