The average Australian is “likely to forgive” the government if fails to deliver a surplus this year considering the impacts of the drought, the fires and the coronavirus, according to 2GB broadcaster Luke Grant

The average Australian voter is “likely to forgive” the government if fails to deliver a surplus this year due to a slew of unforeseen circumstances, according to 2GB broadcaster Luke Grant.

The government has flagged it is unlikely to deliver its promised budget surplus due to the impact of the bushfires, the drought and the fallout from the coronavirus. Mr Grant told Sky News “average people” will think it’s “fair enough” that the government couldn’t deliver on its promise.

Not quiet we will remember all the Rorting Corruption etc etc at the next ballot box.

Not likely

Who's Luke Grant?

There was never going to be a surplus. It was a lie by JoshFraudenberg. That's why they stole money off battling Aussies with their robodebt

No way mate. ScottyFromMarketing and Fraudenberg made such a big deal about it (and were bullshitting) they need there smug faces rubbed in it ScottyFromMarketing LiarFromTheShire LiberalThieves

Murdoch minions starting the softening process.

Omg !!! A govt surplus = a non govt deficit

Out of stock ... $35 bucks a cup... but yes. Let’s forgive their inability to plan for the future while they profited from their economic mismanagement auspol

Will that mean they acknowledge they were lying on their coffee cup merch that says “back in black”... ?

Is that based on the average Australian who works for Sky News?

You mean the surplus any one with half a brain knew wasn't going to be delivered but ideologically was damaging the economy?

2GB fell for it hook line and sinker. So did you liberal voters... 😂 Suckers, when are you going to learn, this isn't a Liberal party its a far right One Nation knock off at best.

Can’t forgive them for squeezing and contracting the economy within an inch of its life.

I’m not! Look at the figures from 2019 pre corona. They’re shit. Just ScottyFomMarketing using the upcoming pandemic as an excuse for his rubbish economic policies.

you people are extremely stupid

tsambi1 Don't think so Massive cuts to Health education etc.with record iorn ore prices still no surplus not to mention fucken corruption.

The average Australian is just breathing a sigh of relief that they don't have to listen to little dipstick Joshy wetting himself and breathlessly saying 'surplus, surplus' anymore.... Morrison too. Now maybe the govt can focus on some practical issues for the country... or not

I wonder how the average Australian will feel about the recession that Morrison is about to make far worse than necessary.

Sensible Australians will understand

1. Drought was already happening when they promised a surplus 2. The LNP smashed Labor when they didn’t deliver a surplus during the GFC so expect little slack from me snd the other Labor voters out there

Like they were actually going to deliver a surplus anyway. Only a fool believed that load of bull. So many lies.

There was no sympathy for Labor from the coalition, News Corp and it's conservative supporters when it had to deal with the biggest financial crisis since the great depression, so why should this government get sympathy? The economy was spiralling down before the fires, virus.

Aww......No

Of course normal people will.Only clowns like vanOnselenP & JaneCaro, the ‘red bandanna child’, hughriminton,QuentinDempster, annabelcrabb, barriecassidy & their ilk will gallop around pissin’ fire while they virtue signal to their commo clowns. rabidgreenlunaticleftcircus

Then I guess I'm not your average Australian

But never forgive Labor for governing through the GFC.

If the ‘average Australian’ voted for Scott Morrison then the ‘average Australian’ is a fuckwit. auspol

Who

During the global financial crisis, we were told that a surplus is more important than ANYthing, and that Labor were the Worst Govt Ever (TM) for running deficits. Now, it's the Coalition...and suddenly, deficits are more acceptable. Weird, huh? Auspol mediabias MurdochMafia

But the Libs have been screaming at us for a decade that we can’t forgive Labor over the GFC economy. What affords them a free pass? It’s not as though they’ve acted with integrity and reason. At any time.

We will forgive a lack of surplus but not the rorting, kickbacks to their donors, and the terrible management of the start of the bushfire season.

Who is this tool Grant?

Who said? Perhaps the $100 mill spent on sports rorts should be redeemed

Maybe if the gov had not been pushing they slim forecasted surplus for over 12 months. Their top achievement built on the back of not spending on the NDIS.

are we who says so?

There was never going to be a surplus, but I’m sad that welfare recipients are being screwed, NDIS is being scammed and underfunded, pensions have been cut, Newstart is too low and they attack workers unions at every turn. auspol

Tbh it would’ve been easier to forgive if they hadn’t made themselves look like morons last year.

Yeah they haven’t provided it over the last 7 years of being in government. But they’re not likely to forgive them the sportsrorts and racking off to Hawaii during the bushfireCrisis...

Forgive for what? The cunts never had this 'surplus' to begin with. This Government has done nothing but lie and lie and lie to the Australian people. When will it stop? This might quite possibly be the most corrupt Government in history.

Luke Who? Who cares what this fill in thinks?

The average Australian doesn't give a shit about the surplus. We care that the people most affected are getting the help they need. They aren't, so the government shouldn't be forgiven.

Did LNP ever forgive ALP because of GFC ?

BullShite 👎🏻🦠😡

It's impossible

We will surely forgive endless LNP and Scumo lies but we will never forgive the 'carbon tax', which was actually an effective carbon price as promised in same sentence as the out of context alleged lie. Never!

Unlikely to forgive that SportsRort ScottyFromMarketting

Yeah they will. But you watch the leeches in the Labor party like Albanese and Chalmers jump all over them. But that's okay because they'll just be even further exposed for the inept party they are. Unable to read public sentiment.

Really?

2gb broadcaster Luke grant.that joke for a so called journalist.load of bollocks

This is a classic example as to why a decision on those massive tax cuts 4 years away should not have been made yet. They’ve cornered themselves into cutting something, postponing cuts and/or having a significantly reduced surplus (if not, a deficit)

That's funny because the SURPLUS was already gone before the fires or the virus... Are sky news reporters that stupid that they have forgotten our failed Treasurer spruiking a BALANCED BUDGET... No mention of a surplus... BEFORE THE FIRES... Facts matter, why not tell some! 🤬🤬

Grant is a dope. A biased apologist of bad government and governance. A media lightweight.

I agree, we all knew they would be struggling to keep the announced surplus because of the bushfires. But good on them, they then changed their call to the surplus came 2nd to bushfire recovery. Then the virus hit, tough year lucky they did get most of the debt payed off.

Forgive? They've cut the shit out of everything, they've suppressed wages, cost of living has gone through the roof, tripled our debt and given us the worst economy in the oecd and still can't get a surplus without a GFC. Bloody crooks.

BiteeuExchange you should proposed your fee free service for all Australian. Be nice🤗

Forgive them for not protecting our economy from climate risks that they've 1) ignored countless warnings about and 2) actively made worse? Nah

Yeah, like a surplus makes a real difference to my wellbeing and quality of life. And on we just ignore the elephant in the room sportsrorts 🤦🏻‍♂️

This is some bullshit, you can't report something as news just because it's an opinion of a broadcaster. Come on there wasn't even a survey or anything, it's just some dude's thought bubble.

Okay

Nobody cared about the 'budget surplus' anyway

PM faces fresh scrutiny over role in sports rorts scandal | Sky News AustraliaA parliamentary inquiry into the persisting sports rorts saga will resume this morning, as the Prime Minister faces fresh scrutiny over the role his office played in approving grants.\n\nDocuments released to the inquiry showed 136 emails were sent between the offices of Scott Morrison and then-Sports Minister Bridget McKenzie. \n\nThe documents were reportedly colour-coded showing the distribution of grants by electorate and political party. \n\nThe auditor-general found the scheme was biased in targeting seats the party wanted to win. \n\nLabor leader Anthony Albanese ramped up his attack on Wednesday, accusing the prime minister of lying about his level of involvement in the scheme. \n\n“The prime minister claimed his only involvement was to pass along information so why has the audit office told the Senate today that there were 136 emails going back and forth between the prime minister’s office and Bridget Mckenzie’s office?” he said. \n\nMeanwhile, a Victorian roller derby club is demanding funding retrospectively, given they scored 98 out of 100 in the Sport Australia sport eligibility criteria. \n\nImage: Getty It is clear to everyone what happened here. Yet the PM will not acknowledge any problem at all and continues his attempt to manipulate the facts. Very sad for Australia as a Nation really!
