Labor luminaries have gathered in the key state of Queensland to launch Bill Shorten's bid to win government on May 18

We've just had the Nukuljagara and Yuggera dancers' Welcome To Country, and now Senator Pat Dodson has taken the stage.

Senator Dodson promises to "build bridges for the future of our young people" with community-designed health programs and an indigenous voice to Parliament.Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has taken the stage, slamming the Coalition's record on jobs - a key concern for voters in marginal Queensland seats.

Mr Shorten must convince voters in Nort Queensland coal mining seats that Labor can deliver jobs if the Adani coal mine - which Ms Palaszczuk's government further delayed by rejecting the Indian company's management plan for an endangered finch - does not go ahead. With last year's Liberal leadership coup fresh in the minds of voters, Labor is eager to talk up its party's unity ahead of this election.

"Someone asked me the other day which Labor prime minister is Bill most like? He is most like Hawke, and Hawke was a Labor prime minister who brought together the team. I think that's what we're demonstrating today."Bill Shorten will offer workers a $1500 wage gain from a tax plan designed to help employers grow, outlining an economic plan that could also create thousands of jobs.
