Thirteen crew members of the Jin Tian cargo ship are found in a search off the coast of Japan, with a Chinese diplomat telling state media eight have been confirmed dead.

Multiple vessels and aircraft from Japan's coast guard and military have been involved in the search of the area. "Five of them — including four Chinese crew members — are not in life-threatening conditions," he added.
