A cold front has moved across the state on Saturday whipping up dust and leaving some stunning images | weir_benjamin

Parts of western and central NSW were blanketed with dust after a cold front moved through on Saturday, with dust reportedly reaching as far as the Snowy Mountains.

A slow-moving cold front and strong northerly winds moved through part of the state whipping up dust, Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Jordan Notara said.Nick Moir Forbes Airport recorded wind gusts of up to 83km/h throughout the day, Condobolin 81km/h and Wagga Wagga 70km/h. "We actually had dust reach over the Snowy Mountains and reach Perisher Valley and Thredbo," Mr Notara said.Part of the Mitchell Highway from Nevertire to Trangie was also closed due to poor visibility."What drew that dust and the thickness of that dust were the strong northerly winds ahead of that cold front," Mr Notara said.

Meanwhile, places such as Dubbo which was blanketed with dust saw winds that were not as strong than other areas with gusts recorded up to 69km/h.Sydney is expected to reach a top of 22 degrees on Monday with conditions mostly sunny. Tuesday is forecast to be 20 degrees and sunny.
