The search for a missing plane is set to resume after it faded off the radar west of Coffs Harbour on the NSW north coast.
The light plane departed Murwillumbah in northern NSW at 6.30am on Friday and was scheduled to arrive in Taree at 8am.Its last known communications were about 7.30am.The Australian Maritime Safety Authority said in a statement it was aware of the overdue Mooney M20 aircraft and had tasked the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a search-and-rescue jet with the search.
They were looking about 27km inland from Coffs Harbour, AMSA said, but cloudy weather conditions had complicated the search effort.The search would resume at first light, though AMSA said weather conditions around Coffs Harbour were likely to be similarly poor.
