Novak Djokovic’s fate still hangs in the balance ahead of a pending decision from the Immigration Minister, but a forgotten diplomatic detail could protect the nine-time Australian Open champion.

Djokovic is still awaiting a final decision from Immigration Minister Alex Hawke after the government indicated it will consider using ministerial discretion to deport the tennis star following a court appeal which overturned his cancelled visa.

The Serbian Embassy confirmed Djokovic held both a normal Serbian passport as well as a Diplomatic one awarded to him following Serbia’s successful 2011 Davis Cup championship, theStream the latest news on COVID-19 with Flash. Immigration Minister Alex Hawke must send Djokovic packing, if not the Morrison Govt will be gone next election as this will be the final nail in the coffin. Grow a pair?

Can we just stop with the Djokovic’s fate unknown broken record please?

False. The Aust Govt doesn’t infer special rights & privileges on to diplomatic passports. If it did, he’d have never been detained. It looks like the govt is realizing it doesn’t have a case that would hold up when challenged at Court & is asking the media to help it save face.
